水元一丁目 - 五丁目 from first to fifth district

Mizumoto means "source of water".
The name goes back to 水元村 Mizumoto Village of the Edo period.

Yūgao Kannon bodhisattva is said to have been unearthed in 1668 (the eighth year of Kanbun)
by 関口治左衞門 Sekiguchi Jizaemon in 飯塚村 Iizuka Village (present-day Mizumoto Iizuka, Katsushika Ward) from the root of a pine tree near his house after he received a prophecy in a dream.

The temple was founded around 1688.
