Tokuyama Kaido 徳山街道 Tokuyama Highway
Gifu 岐阜県
(- Still trying to locate the road.)

徳山村 Tokuyama village in the Ibi district, Gifu, in the upstream region of the river 揖斐川 Ibigawa.
Around 1966, there was a dam construction of 徳山ダム Tokuyama Dam, and the village was lost.
But more than 38 relics of the Jomon period (between c. 14,000–300 BCE) were found during the preparations for the dam:
塚奥山遺跡 Tsukaokayama iseki (former 宮ヶ原遺跡 Miyagahara iseki) ...

Near the dam is a place called
Ogiya Himekaido Bridge.

The Tokuyama Dam (徳山ダム Tokuyama damu) is an embankment dam near Ibigawa, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture
The dam was completed in 2008 and will support a 153 MW hydroelectric power station that is expected to be fully operational in 2015. Currently, Unit 1 at 23 MW was commissioned in May 2014. The dam was originally intended to withhold the upper reservoir of a 400 MW pumped-storage power station until a design change in 2004. The dam is also intended for flood control and water supply. It is the largest dam by structural volume in Japan and withholds the country's largest reservoir by volume as well.

Submerged village lives on via 'old lady photographer'
Farmers smile on their way to work and people grin in front of an old school about to be closed. A bulldozer plows down a house with a garden full of flowers.
These are just some of the more than 80,000 scenes of the abandoned Gifu village of Tokuyama captured by photographer Tazuko Masuyama, who died March 6 at age 88.
About 13,000 villagers from 466 families had to leave Tokuyama in 1987 to make way for the Tokuyama Dam. The region is now a part of Ibigawa-cho.
“The old lady photographer”
became a celebrity when she began taking photographs of her village in the 1980s at age 61.
Masuyama wanted to capture life in the village for her husband, Tokujiro, still hoping he would return from Burma, where he was sent during the war.
Even after the amateur photographer left the village in 1985, she visited the dam site to photograph the workers.
The village Masuyama has preserved in her pictures is due to be swallowed up by water in the autumn, when the dam will be completed.

yasha hebi 夜叉蛇 demon serpent
At the village 西杉原 Nishisugihara along the 徳山街道 Tokuyama Kaido road where was a swamp where the serpent 夜叉蛇 Yashahebi lived.
When the swamp was landfilled the villagers feared the wrath of the serpent and erected a kyozuka 経塚 sutra mound for it.
It was forbidden to dig around the mound, otherwise the village of 鶴見 Tsurumi would be in danger.
