The Choja rich man from Nakano was 鈴木九郎 Suzuki Kuro (1371 - 1440), who had founded 成願寺 the temple Jogan-Ji. 山手通りの神田川にかかる橋。成願寺を開いた「中野長者」鈴木九郎に由来。首都高速「中野長者橋出入口」の名称にも採られている。
石森製粉の石臼 - stone mortar from Ishimori Seifun company, making buckwheat powder. ストーンミル stone mill
幕末から大正の頃、中野坂上は製粉業が盛んであった。中野坂の途中にある石森製粉は、かつて実際に使っていた直径2mの石臼を自社ビル前に展示している。このビルの上階は「マンション・ストーンミル」という名称の集合住宅になっている。

Hon-chō was the first settlement of what was to become the city of Edo.
When Tokugawa Ieyasu (subsequent founder of the shogunate) came to the Edo region in September 1590,
he started by developing a commercial and residential district.
This area of the city came to be known as "Hon-chō" (literally "the original district")
because it was both located directly east of Edo Castle's Ōtemon (the great gate),
and next to Nihonbashi (the starting point of the five major overland routes to the provinces).
Furthermore, the architecture of the area was typified by streets
lined with numerous earthen-walled warehouses.

Nakano-no-Tō Tower　中野塔（なかののとう） Nakano no To

The tower of Nakano was a three-storied pagoda which was said to have been donated by Iizuka Sōbei
during the Kan'ei era (1624 -1643) and was one of Edo's famous places
along with the five-storied pagoda located in Kan'ei-ji Temple, Ueno.
It was located on the grounds of Hōsen-ji Temple, Chūō, Nakano Ward,
but burned down during the air raids of 1945 (the twentieth year of Shōwa).

Shin-Kiba 新木場 Shinkiba district ("New Lumberyard")

kiba originally was called chobokujo 貯木場 a place to store lumber.

Shin-Kiba is located north of Wakasu, east of Tatsumi, south of Yumenoshima, and west of the Arakawa River.
It is built on reclaimed land.
The name "Shinkiba" means "New Lumberyard", and is taken from the area's historical importance in the lumber industry. It is termed "New" to distinguish it from Kiba (Lumberyard), another area in Koto.
History
Kiba had been the main centre of the lumber industry in Tokyo since 1657, when the Tokugawa shogunate moved it there after a major fire. In the 1970s Kiba was rapidly being developed, so the lumber businesses were relocated to reclaimed land named Shin-Kiba. In more recent times performance venues have been established in Shin-Kiba.

1934年（昭和9年）に深川猿江裏町の一部・深川東町の一部・深川本村町の一部が合併することになった際深川住吉町と名づけられ、1968年（昭和43年）に住吉と改称した。
地名の由来 1934年（昭和9年）の成立の際、縁起の良い「吉」の字を用いて深川住吉町と命名された[4]。住吉神社との関連はなく、近隣に同名の神社も存在しない。

1934年（昭和9年）：深川区東森下町の一部、東元町・富川町・西町の全部をもって深川高橋一丁目-五丁目とする。
1947年（昭和22年）：江東区に所属。
1971年（昭和46年）：深川高橋一丁目を高橋、深川高橋二丁目-五丁目を森下三丁目-五丁目とした。
大正期には都市スラム化しており、1921年（大正10年）に刊行された『東京市内の細民に関する調査』において前身のうち富川町・西町併せて2,416人の細民人口が計上されている[5]。戦後の高度経済成長期までは簡易宿泊街（ドヤ街）が形成されており[6]、貧困地域であった。ドヤ街は都市再開発のために現在は一部を残してほぼ解体されて、高橋および森下三丁目-五丁目に多く点在するビジネスホテル群にその名残が見られる。
地名の由来
町名は小名木川に架かる橋梁・高橋に由来する[7]。この橋梁は小名木川に架けられており、東京都道463号上野月島線が通り、北岸の高橋と白河一丁目を結んでいる。橋長は43.8メートル。

In the first and second district are many temples of 日蓮宗 the Nichiren sect.
The area had been landfilled in 1701 and many town houses had been built there.

In 1703, the name 三好 Miyoshi (three friends) was given to the district.

Mori 毛利 Mori district district
毛利一丁目 - 毛利二丁目 first and second district

In 1722, 毛利藤左衛門 Mori Tozaemon developed new fields here.
In 1732, the government built kiba 木場 a lumberyard here.
In the Meiji period,the land became part of the Imperial household.
In 1891, it was named 深川本村町 Fukagawa Honmura district and the name MORI was lost.
In 1931, 本村町 Honmura district and 猿江裏町 Sarue Uramachi were united to become 毛利町 Mori district.
In 1947, it became 深川毛利町 Fukagawa Mori district.
In 1968, 毛利一 / 二丁目 first and second district of Mori were established.

In the second district, 猿江恩賜公園 the Park Sarue Onshi is located.

Botan 牡丹 Botan district
牡丹一丁目 - 三丁目 first to third district

Most of it are residential areas.
It is close to 門前仲町 Monzen Nakacho.
In former times there lived a lot of farmers growing peonies, hence the name.

Edagawa 枝川 Edagawa district
枝川一丁目 - 枝川三丁目 first to third district

The first and second district have been landfilled in 1910.
The main road 三ツ目通り Mitsume-dori runs from South to North.

Fukuzumi 福住 Fukuzumi district
福住一丁目 - 福住二丁目 first and second district

This district has a long histrict, being called 深川福住 Fukagawa Fukuzumi. In 1931, the areas 伊沢町、一色町、黒江町、松村町 were united to become 深川福住町一丁目 Fukagawa Fukuzumi first district.
In 1931, the areas 永堀町、大住町、東永代町、材木町 were united to become 深川福住町二丁目 Fukagawa Fukuzumi second district.
In 1969 the two districts were renamed 福住 Fukuzumi.
There were many komegura 米蔵 storehouses for rice in the area.
The scholar 新井白石 Arai Hakuseki (1657 - 1725) lived in Fukuzumi first district (now 深川一色町 Fukagawa Isshiki district) .

Oogibashi 扇橋 Ogibashi District

江東区 Koto ward, 扇橋一丁目 - 扇橋三丁目 Ogibashi first to third district

Around 1610, there was a bridge called Ogibashi, in 深川扇橋町 the Fukagaawa Ogibashi district.
In 1870, the Eastern (higashi) side of the bridge became an indepentat district called
深川東扇橋町 Fukagawa Higashi Ogigawa district.
In 1936, this district and part of 深川石島町 Fukagawa Ishijima were united to become 深川扇橋 the Fukagawa Ogibashi district.
In 1968, the part of Fukagawa was dropped and the district was simply called 扇橋 Ogibashi.


Shin-Ogibashi 新扇橋　the New Ogibashi Bridge
Over the river 小名木川 Onagigawa.
The bridge is 57.3 m long.
